Nuffield Health Gym, Balliol Business Park
The Nuffield Health operated gym on Balliol Business Park in Gosforth.
The gym was closed, and car park empty, due to restriction placed upon businesses by the UK government in an effort to control the spread of the COVID-19 infectious disease which was affecting the country in the spring of 2020. The government restrictions included the mandatory closure of customer facing businesses such as non-essential shops, gyms, hotels and pubs. Many of the other businesses on the business park had required their staff to work from home to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus.

During the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak in spring 2020 messages and rainbows such as these were a common sight as people looked to publicly acknowledge the efforts of those who remained at work during the period of strictest restriction when government advice was to stay at home where ever possible.
