Wester Moffat House
The present house was built in 1859-62 for William Towers-Clark to a design by Charles Wilson, and added to in 1865 by David Thomson. Later it was the home of Gavin Black (1842-1889), coalmaster, and his wife Margaret Wotherspoon Brown (1845-1917). It was converted into a hospital between 1927 and 1929, and several wards were built as pavilions in the grounds. It is still in use as a hospital.
