Roundabout in the northern outskirts of Bellshill
The flats beyond the roundabout are a new addition. This site was formerly occupied by Bellshill maternity hospital which was opened by the Queen in the early 1960s (all gone now!)

Bellshill Maternity Hospital.
In the mid-1980s, the Biochemistry and Haematology Labs moved into what had been G Ward of the original hospital. The old wards were vacated in the 1950s when the "new" hospital was built. The Maternity and Laboratory Services were transferred to Wishaw General in 2001 and the site has since been cleared and is a private housing development.

Bellshill Maternity Hospital.
The Laboratories - that's Biochemistry and Haematology in the left - occupied the original buildings which were vacated in the 1950s when the "new" hospital was built.
