A crankshaft on the roundabout for the A73 and A721 junction
The wheels at either end of the shaft have been added to make it look "pretty". I've been told by another geograph member that the shaft came from a twin McNaught 6 column beam engine manufactured by Turnbull, Grant & Jack of Port Dundas and that it had been used at Lean's Muslin Mills in Glasgow. It's been out use for a very long time (1950s probably) and was in store along with other bits and pieces from the engine in various museums around Glasgow before being placed here. The flywheel no longer exists. This crankshaft really deserves better preservation than this because it's from a completely unique engine in Scotland - the only ones that are even close to it are in Dublin.
