Motherwell railway station, North Lanarkshire
Opened in 1885 by the Caledonian Railway on the line from Carlisle to Glasgow, this station replaced 2 earlier CR stations on the separate lines - Motherwell Junction (1849-1885) out of sight around the curve to the left; and Motherwell Bridge (1871-1885) out of view round the curve to the right. In turn, this station was rebuilt around 1973. View south - platforms to Carlisle on the left, to Hamilton on the right.
