Mennock Hass water tunnel, Wanlockhead
A plaque marks the north portal of the tunnel that brought water from the small reservoir on the Mossy Burn above the Mennock Pass, shown in Image The plaque reads North Portal Mennockhass Water Tunnel Cut 1763 - 1774 Length 1385m 'Hass' is a Scots word meaning pass and the related 'hause' also is used in the Lake District.
