The weir at Stonebyres
Water is tapped off here to feed Stonebyres Power station; one of two hydro-electric power stations making up the Lanark Hydro Electric Scheme. This scheme was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom to produce a clean renewable energy, using water from the falls of Clyde to generate 16MW and completed in 1927.
