Road junction at Carstairs Junction

Carstairs junction
A busy time at the station as the main East Coast route was blocked due to a tunnel at Penmanshiel having fallen in and closed the route south of Dunbar. All services were running via the West Coast . A class 87 loco for Glasgow is in the platform while a HST is seen on the adjoining line.

Carstairs Junction
Now just called Carstairs, this used to be a busy station where trains split or were joined together, one half for Edinburgh, the other for Glasgow. This does not happen anymore and the quieter status of the station has led to most of the buildings Image being demolished.
