Newbigging Market Cross
According to Canmore https://canmore.org.uk/site/48897/newbigging-market-cross this may be replacement for an original cross dated 1693. For detail of the cross see Image To the left is the old school. The smoke beyond is coming from a muirburn fire about 7km away, north of Dunsyre.

Newbigging Market Cross
Newbigging's market cross is on the village green. Its eight-pointed head is a medieval form of cross. The back of the cross bears the date 1693, but if this is correct then it may be based on an older design.

Market Cross, Newbigging
This cross is situated on a slight mound in the centre of Newbigging village green. The date 1693 is etched into the cross, but there is doubt if this date is genuine.
