One of several places in Scotland with the name Newbigging (Scots: Neebicken), Newbigging in South Lanarkshire is a hamlet near Dunsyre at the southern end of the Pentland Hills. It is on the A721 Carnwath to Peebles road.

Newbigging Market Cross
Newbigging's market cross is on the village green. Its eight-pointed head is a medieval form of cross. The back of the cross bears the date 1693, but if this is correct then it may be based on an older design.

Market Cross, Newbigging
This cross is situated on a slight mound in the centre of Newbigging village green. The date 1693 is etched into the cross, but there is doubt if this date is genuine.
