Metal bridge at Auchren
The next bridge north Image along this former Stonehouse - Coalburn railway line was built from pink sandstone with an arch of blue engineering bricks. This bridge has stone abutments but the deck is carried on deep plate girders and the parapets are of riveted metal plates. It lies about a mile south of Lesmahagow. The cottages in the background front on to the former A74 dual carriageway, now reduced to B-road status following the opening of the Glasgow - Carlisle motorway.
