What a rubbishy photograph!
Should one assume that the residents of the Auldtown area of Lesmahagow wanted the local disused railway cutting infilled and, bearing in mind the supermarket's injunction that "Every little helps", were trying to do their bit whenever they came across something they no longer needed? This road bridge crossed the Stonehouse - Coalburn railway just south of Lesmahagow and was closed to passengers in 1965 and to coal traffic three years later.
