Lesmahagow Priory and Lesmahagow Old Parish Church
Lesmahagow Old Parish Church The present church was constructed in 1804 and contains some notable stained glass. Lesmahagow Old Parish Church is linked with neighbouring Coalburn Parish Church Lesmahagow Priory Lesmahagow Priory was built by the Tyronenses Monks of Kelso Abbey during the 12th century on the site of an earlier Benedictine church. In 1987 an archaeological excavation was undertaken by the Glasgow Archaeological Society. The 'dig' uncovered the foundations of part of the East and West ranges. The South range excavations revealed the remains of the Refectory and the Cloister Garth. The area beyond the East range is considered to be the site of Chapter House, or Abbot's accommodation, as yet unexcavated.
