Glassford Road and Hamilton Road join to become Commercial Road. Traffic priorities changed recently to make Hamilton Road to Commercial Road the main road.

Looking east from Kirkhill
The site of the war memorial, Kirkhill is Strathaven's highest central point and overlooks the cemetery. This view looks east along the A71 to Stonehouse and, ultimately, Edinburgh.

Old railway cutting and bridge, Strathaven
The railway connected the original line from Hamilton to Strathaven with the new line from Stonehouse. This section was closed in 1953.

Viaduct pier, Strathaven
Remains of a viaduct which carried the Hamilton and Strathaven railway over what is now the A71. The railway served the collieries around Quarter.
