Oak tree and concrete cows at Xmas, CMK
The protected oak tree in Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes Shopping Centre (at the beginning of the run-up to Christmas), surrounded by the spare set of Concrete Cows (on loan to the Centre) and animated, illuminated grazing deer. The tree has been lopped since Image was taken and the new Barclays premises has opened in the former Mango site. Other Christmas decorations (stars and a giant 'exploding' cracker) can be seen hanging in the background.

Open space in CMK
I believe this is known as 'the Big Tree' and below it are some of the famous Milton Keynes 'concrete cows'. An icon for all that CMK represents some would say, a travesty of the natural world. I think that like many so called ugly things it also has a sad beauty and certainly makes a powerful statement.

Open space in CMK
It makes you struggle to picture real live Holstein Friesians and a healthy normal Oak tree. Maybe the UK's most famous piece of public art? Worthy of a close inspection that's for sure.

The concrete cows are in a new place!
The concrete cows are a well known feature of Milton Keynes. Normally they are sited near one of the thoroughfares through the city, but are currently on loan to the Midsummer Place shopping centre. The tree is an oak and it is real, unlike the cows!
