Public Convenience, Olney
As with most small market towns a public facility like this is well maintained and surrounded by street furniture and flower beds. The weather vane on the roof is certainly an eye catcher Image

Olney
Olney was originally a lace-making town, but also celebrates its connections with William Cowper who, as well as writing hymns, is remembered for his translation of Homer. The characters on the sign are taking part in the town's Shrove Tuesday pancake race.

Cowper's bedroom
The poet William Cowper lived in Orchard Side House, now the Cowper & Newton Museum, from 1768 to 1786. His bedroom overlooked the market place. Cowper's trademark linen cap and his waistcoats are displayed in the room, where his companion Mrs Mary Unwin often slept on the floor to tend him when he suffered from depressive nightmares.
