Brick Press
This unlikely-looking contraption is displayed outside the Forest Centre. It is in fact a brick press used inside the brickworks to press clay particles into a mould forming the bricks that could then be sent to the kiln for drying and firing.

Brick Making Equipment
These two items of brick making equipment were removed from the nearby Stewartby brickworks which closed in 2008. The wheels on the right crushed the lumps of Oxford clay prior to it being fed to the Whitaker double repress brick press on the left. The press had a capacity of 26 bricks per minute.
