Bunyan's Mead, Elstow
Several of these timber framed houses were originally shops. They date mainly from the 16th century but some include work from the 13th to 15th centuries.

Elstow Stream
This stream runs under a small bridge in the village of Elstow. It's a small village with some wonderful old buildings made famous as the birthplace of John Bunyan. He was a cleric who wrote Pilgrims Progress and was placed in Bedford Gaol for his beliefs. A postcard depicting him was sent to Terry Waite when he was held as a hostage in Beruit. Amazingly it arrived and Terry said it was an inspiration to him.
