Stream at Elstow

Elstow Stream
This stream runs under a small bridge in the village of Elstow. It's a small village with some wonderful old buildings made famous as the birthplace of John Bunyan. He was a cleric who wrote Pilgrims Progress and was placed in Bedford Gaol for his beliefs. A postcard depicting him was sent to Terry Waite when he was held as a hostage in Beruit. Amazingly it arrived and Terry said it was an inspiration to him.

Village sign and St Mary & Helena Parish Church, Elstow
The logo at the left of the sign commemorates the 1951 Festival of Britain when the Moot Hall http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/823252 in the village was restored as a contribution to the festival.
