Bedford railway station: First Capital Connect
One of four photos taken on the same day showing different operators' trains at the same station. Bedford is the northern terminus of the cross-London service formerly (and still informally) known as Thameslink, but in recent years operated by First Capital Connect. Confusingly the unit nearest the camera is actually in the livery of Southern Trains. These class 319 electric units are dual-voltage, operating on 25kV overhead power north of London, and 750V third-rail supply through the Thameslink tunnel and south of the capital.
