Former St Luke's Church, St Peter's Street, Bedford
The building closed as a church in October 2008. The numbers attending were too few to keep up the large complex. They had a series of talks in September from the various groups who had used the building in its 263 year life.
It has now been sold. (Thanks to John Garside for this information).
I went to a youth club here in the late 1960's.

North end of St Cuthbert's Street, Bedford
At the junction with St Peter's Street.
In the 1950's & 60's the shop that is now "angels and urchins" was Bell's chemist shop, with the family living over the shop. One of them was in the same class as me at Bedford Modern School.

With Pizza Express.
There used to be a small building to its right which housed a barbers in the late 1950's and early 60's, where I got my hair cut as a schoolboy.

Bedford Preparatory School
The school provides day and boarding education for boys aged 7-13. On the left the Almeida Gates were originally in Ampthill but were moved here by the Duke of Bedford (apparently to the annoyance of people in Ampthill) in 1897.

St Peter's Street, Bedford
There is quite a variety of building styles on the south side of St Peter's Street, dominated by the old Conservative Club. It became Zinc nightclub in 2017 but had been formerly called Vibe - see
