Shire Hall, Bedford
Seen from the southern bank of the Great Ouse, the Shire Hall was built in 1879-1881 by Alfred Waterhouse for £20,000, with an extension in 1910. The buildings are still in use as Magistrates' Courts.

Bedford - former Shire Hall from Town Bridge
The riverside façade of Shire Hall was apparently built in 1926 in the same style as the 1879 Shire Hall building in St Paul's Square - see http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=MBD1225&resourceID=1014 .
