Castle bailey
The large bailey at Castlethorpe from the motte http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4109760 originally a motte-and-bailey castle fortified by William Mauduit, Lord of Hanslope in the 12th century. It was slighted following its capture by Foulkes de Brent in 1217 and never rebuilt, though extensive earthworks remain as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
