Disused railway near Sandhill
This disused railway line looking north-east is all that remains of the Oxford to Bletchley railway, see Image The single track, which continues east as far as Swanbourne, near Winslow about 6km away, can just been seen and it has been officially listed as 'mothballed'. Just beyond the curve of the track is Verney Junction station, or what remains of it. As well as being a station on the Oxford to Bletchley line, the station was once a remote short-lived outpost of London Underground from 1933 to 1936, as well as the southern end of the Banbury to Verney Junction railway until 1964, see http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/stations/v/verney_junction/index.shtml.

Junction for Verney Junction
Verney Junction is a small settlement owing its existence to the railway, although there is no longer a junction and only a 'mothballed' railway now. It is named after Sir Harry Verney, local squire and a director of the original railway giving rise to the junction.

Disused railway
On the LNWR Oxford - Bletchley line. There are plans to reopen this line from Bicester, hence the tree bashing evident in this view. What looks like a platform on the right must be a low retaining wall, as there was never a station here.
