Middle Claydon cemetery 'chapel' - rear view
This tiny building is hardly a chapel, although it looks the part from the front. At the rear, it is open to the elements with a chicken wire bird screen (ineffective - there was a nest inside). Inside there is an inward-facing bench on each side seating in total about eight, and little else, with just about room for a coffin. It is locked up, but its belfrey seems to continue in use as required, as a wire is led through the back door enabling bell tolling from the outside.

Middle Claydon cemetery gates
Gates, and the small building is mapped as a 'Lych gate', although it is not necessary to pass through it to get in. In fact, at the time it was locked front and back.

The nearest grave is of a Verney, a very big name in these parts.
