Swanbourne railway station (site), Buckinghamshire
Opened in 1850 on the London & North Western Railway line from Oxford to Cambridge via Bedford, this station closed in 1968.
View north east towards Bletchley and Bedford from a public crossing, although the line appears disused at this time.

Return of rails to Swanbourne
The first rails for the rebuilt East West Railway at the site of the former Swanbourne Station. The railhead is at the western end of the old station platforms.

Site of Swanbourne station
Swanbourne station, platforms, buildings and Station House have all been swept away to leave this muddy area where it all once was. Contractors for East West Railway have moved on also, so all is ready for the next stage - laying new tracks for the new express services from Milton Keynes to Oxford and London. The station was opened by the Buckinghamshire Railway in 1850 and closed by BR in 1968. The house was occupied until recently by an ex railwayman who looked after the old station. A new station was not proposed for Swanbourne, but a new one is being built at Winslow.
