The Shoulder of Mutton (3) - sign, Church Street, Little Horwood, Bucks
This used to be a fairly common name for public houses and inns, particularly for very old ones, but not many remain today. This one started business in the 15th century.

The Shoulder of Mutton (1), Church Street, Little Horwood, Bucks
A very old public house in this small village which, at the time the photograph was taken, had been in business for over five hundred years, at least. A Grade II listed building. Subsequently in January 2016 it closed and that situation currently does not seem to have changed. It would be very sad if such a historic pub were to end up as yet another residential conversion. However I would stress I have no idea what the intention is regarding this building.

Parish Church of St. Nicholas, Church Street, Little Horwood, Bucks
The nave and south aisle date from 1200. The chancel was rebuilt in 1320 when it was both lengthened and widened. The tower was added in the 15th century with the porch added in 1828. In 1889, during a major restoration of the church, wall paintings were discovered, which had been hidden under layers of whitewash. This was almost certainly done at the time of the Reformation in the 16th century. The church is a Grade II* listed building.
