Grand Union Canal: Bridge Number 93
Bridge Number 93 appears to have been built originally to serve an isolated farm on the west bank of the canal about midway between the then villages of Fenny Stratford and Simpson. The farm and the surrounding fields had disappeared by the time that the 1971 edition of the Ordnance Survey mapping was published to be replaced by an industrial estate with a "Piano and Organ Factory" in place of the farm buildings. Today the bridge carries a footpath between Simpson Road and Mount Avenue in the industrial estate over the canal.
The standard modern day Grand Union Canal number plaque is to the left of the arch here on the towpath side, but a much older style plaque is still present over the centre of the arch.
