New trees by Blowers Wood, Hempstead
A lot of Blowers Wood has disappeared due to house building since the construction of Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre in the 1970s. Since developers were not allowed to build on this field to the south, more trees have been planted and a few horses have a paddock.

The southern tip of Spekes Road, Hempstead
The southern end of Spekes Road disappeared following the construction of Hempstead Valley shopping centre in the 1970s. Now the southern end of Spekes Road is called Lambsfrith Grove and the central part forms part of Kingsdown Close. The northern end is an unmade road leading from Hempstead Road to Fairview Avenue in Wigmore.
