Paddle Steamer Medway Queen, Gillingham
The Medway Queen was built in 1924 and served in the Dunkirk evacuation. The hull is a replica of the deteriorated original and built to the original drawings with Lottery money. The machinery is the original but she lacks a boiler and is not compliant with current regulations - a bar to her sailing with paying passengers. It is to be hoped that one day she will once again get under way.

'Gansu' moored at Gillingham Pier
This little Norwegian built fishing boat is normally moored at Gillingham Pier.
Its owner allowed me and a friend to go out on to the River Medway to see Fort Darnet and Fort Hoo.
