View from St James' Churchyard, Cooling
St James Church at Cooling is one of the churches which it is thought featured in the opening scenes of Great Expectations (St Mary's at Higham is the other). See more at: http://www.coolingchurch.org.uk/page9.htm This is the view that Dickens would have seen from the churchyard looking across the marshes but it is of course much changed and it needs a little imagination when one thinks of the opening scene of the David Lean film. St James Church is now looked after by the Churches Conservation Trust - see http://www.visitchurches.org.uk/Ourchurches/Completelistofchurches/St-James-Church-Cooling-Kent/

This is not a public right of way use by consent only
A bit ambiguous in two senses, but it probably refers to the wide field edge parallel with the road rather than the track, and probably means you can use it without specific application. Its use by those following the Saxon Shore Way avoids walking along the road for a bit. The track is not a through route and just serves fields.
