East Malling High Street: early shop-front
The High Street is narrow, it has to be said, and traffic quite busy - so I suspect it is many years since the premises served as a shop. Nonetheless, the shop-front has survived in what looks like early Victorian condition (perhaps a little earlier).

East Malling station
The line from Otford to Maidstone East was opened on 1st June 1874 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway. East Malling station was opened in May 1913. The station is at a high level, adjacent to the railway bridge over the High Street. It is possibly the least attractive station on the line. The ticket office at East Malling station was closed by 1988. It was located in a wooden building on the up (London-bound) platform, where part retained as a shelter continues in use. This view is from the down platform, looking across the bridge over the High Street in the direction of Otford, Swanley and Victoria.
