Hollingbourne station approach
The line from Otford to Maidstone East was opened on 1st June 1874 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway. On 1st July 1884 this was extended from Maidstone East to Ashford with intermediate stations opening at Bearsted, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, Lenham and Charing on the same day. Hollingbourne station is at the top of a long approach road from Eyhorne Street and is quite a distance by foot from both Eyhorne and Hollingbourne. There are no houses nearby. This is the view looking back down the approach road towards Eyhorne Street. I doubt that people walk down here at night, even though as can be seen there are lamp posts all the way.
