Vintage Wigan bus at Kent County Showground, Detling
In recent years vintage buses have been on show at the South East Bus Festival held annually at Detling. Seen here is a Leyland PD2/37 with Massey 64-seat bodywork which was once operated by Wigan Corporation. An unusual feature common to all Wigan vehicles was the pair of green lights either side of the front destination indicator. For a bus built in 1966 it has a somewhat dated appearance when compared to other vehicles available at the time.

Vintage East Kent bus at Kent County Showground, Detling
In recent years vintage buses have been on show at the South East Bus Festival held annually at Detling. This is an East Kent AEC Regent V with Park Royal 72-seat bodywork which gave around twenty years' service from 1959. Buses such as this combined a front entrance which gave the driver a better view of passenger movements with a traditionally placed front engine which many engineers found preferable to the rear-engined types that were beginning to find favour with other operators at the time.

Vintage Jersey bus at Kent County Showground, Detling
This was the oldest bus at the 2016 South East Bus Festival. It is an all-Leyland TD1 with 48-seat bodywork and dates from 1931. It survived World War II and lasted in service with Jersey Motor Transport until 1958. Formerly registered in Jersey as J 1199 it gained this UK registration number after it had returned to the mainland for preservation.
