The Liriodendron tulipifera tree is in the foreground, popularly known as the tulip tree. It is one of at least two in the gardens and is a native of America. The flowers on the tree resemble tulips in shape. Mount Ephraim House is a Grade II listed building, rebuilt in 1878 from a 17th century house. It stands in an estate of 800 acres and has been in the Dawes family for over 300 years.
