View from the footbridge at Selling station
The line from Faversham to Canterbury East was opened on 9th July 1860 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway, and Selling station followed on 3rd December 1860. The original station was destroyed by fire in the early 1990s, shortly before it was to be made a listed building. The signal box which was here can now be seen at Eythorne station on the East Kent Light Railway.
This is the view from the footbridge looking in the direction of Dover. The remains of an old siding can be seen on the left, now lost amongst trees.

This is the view from the footbridge leading from the up platform to the down platform. Beyond the down platform it descends to a field and then heads across the middle of the field on the left here to eventually reach Boughton Street. Blean Woods are in the distance in this view.

Railway line south-east from Selling
A bank holiday and the power was off for maintenance, so the engineers' train consisted of a pair of class 73 locomotives running on diesel power. These are among the few "bi-mode" or "electro-diesel" locos and although quite old now (dating from the 1960s) still useful for such circumstances.

British Pullman train, Selling Station
The 10.55 diesel locomotive passing through the station non-stop from London Victoria towards Dover, where it will stop briefly before returning via Folkestone and Paddock Wood. Those lucky enough to be on board are treated to champagne and a 5 course meal. As for me, my train has been cancelled.
