Shepherd Neame Brewery, Faversham - stationary steam engine
This horizontal single cylinder steam engine was built c1864 by an unknown maker and is preserved in the back of the boiler house. The cylinder is c12" x 27" with a fixed expansion Meyer slide valve. The flywheel is 7' 4" diameter and it drove by gears. A rod extending forward from the crosshead drives a feed pump. The engine is workable and there have been occasional days when it's demonstrated but it is difficult to find out when these might be.
