To the left of the path is School House, part of King's School. In the distance is Crow Lane and Restoration House, built in 1587 and so called because Charles II stayed here briefly in 1660 after his return to England at the restoration of the monarchy. The house is also well known as Satis House, the home of Miss Havisham in Dickens's Great Expectations.
