Top Meadow, Blackley, Manchester
In November a local school, in conjunction with the Friends of Blackley Forest and English Heritage, held a ceremony to dedicate a bench and plant two trees, in memory of local families affected by war. I was pleased to see the wreath was still in place, anchored with a large stone, when I walked there recently. A clump of dogwood adds another touch of red, and the trees in the distance are Blackley Forest, planted in 1953.

Top Meadow, Blackley
Friends of mine climbing up from Blackley New Road along the edge of Top Meadow. This lies beside Blackley Forest, and contains a group of community fruit trees, as well as 55 maples planted as a memorial to local men who died in wars. The coloured stems are Dogwood.
