Memorial Garden, Tesco's, Cheetham Hill
"This garden is to commemorate the former use of the land as a Wesleyan Cemetery. The remains of those interred in the cemetery between 25th October 1868 and July 1968 have been removed and are now interred at Bury Cemetery, Blackley Cemetery and Southern Cemetery, where there are monuments to confirm their origins." This little garden is adjoining Tesco's carpark. A few years back, the existing shopping centre was demolished and replaced with a giant supermarket and a number of new small shop units. Tesco's opened in 2009, but the small units are still mostly empty four years on. Adjacent to the old shops was a disused cemetery and, amid much controversy, the bodies were moved and a giant carpark built.
