Queen’s Road stop will replace the staff halt; having steps and a lift from the road to both inbound and outbound platforms. At the Manchester (south) end there will be ramps to a foot track level crossing. When the new station is complete it will replace Woodlands Road Metrolink station as the station closest to Manchester on the Bury line.

The signalbox controlled the link between the second Manchester Victoria-Bury route and the ultimate route across the Irk Valley. The original lines now form an access to Metrolink's tram depot and the cutoff forms the Manchester-Bury tram route.
