Shaft cap in New Park Wood
The disused mine's access & ventilation shafts were covered by concrete caps and surrounded by iron railings to prevent accidents; the concrete cap is still intact under the fallen leaves.

Pond in New Park Wood
The heron proved there are fish here, catching & eating one as I watched. There are old mine shafts & remnants of a colliery railway in this wood - the Pretoria Pit was here.
