George Leigh Street
On the right is the former St Michael's RC Church http://manchesterhistory.net/manchester/churches/stmichaels.html It was founded in 1858 and became the heart of the Little Italy community in Ancoats. It was closed in 2003. Masses continued to be held outside until 2007. Now, however, like nearby St Peter's Image it is a second space in Ancoats for the Hallé’s artistic and education activities and provides space for community events.
