Medlock Valley Way, Failsworth
Most of this walk is very pretty, but early on it is necessary to cross the motorway. The bridge I was standing on does not show up on this site's maps, but it is there, honest! This is facing south-east and the bridge in the distance carries Lumb Lane over the M60.

The canal meets the motorway
This is the Hollinwood Branch of the Ashton Canal, but it has been cut off where it meets the motorway embankment. In places it has been filled in, but there is a stretch here where it is just neglected.
