As stated on them, these cottages on Edge Lane were built in 1895. They are much more ornate and grand than almost all the other housing in the area from this era.

Gardeners Arms, 279 Edge Lane
Situated on the corner of Edge Lane and Arbroath Street. This has been a pub since 1879, although it has been extended since then. Earlier still, in 1834, there were 32 pubs or inns in Droylsden, which worked out at one pub for every 290 people. Today the Gardeners Arms has a games room, offers Sky Sports on TV, and provides food all day.

Manchester Metrolink construction in Manchester Road (A662)
Work has started on this part of Manchester Road in connection with the construction of an extension to the Manchester Metrolink tramway. This will open to Droylsden town centre in early 2012, and later it will be opened to Ashton-under-Lyne. This part replicates the route of Manchester's first generation tramway, which ran along here until 1938. From 1938 to December 1966 electric trolleybuses were operated here. Image
