Davyhulme Millennium Nature Reserve
Davyhulme Millennium Nature Reserve is a reclaimed area of land on the western bank of the Manchester Ship Canal. The area was the site of the former Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works from 1894 until it closed. It was opened as a nature reserve in 1999. It now provides a mixed landscape of wetland, woods, water features and open land and is a designated Site of Biological Importance. This is the long path from the car park near Daresbury Avenue.

Hulme's Bridge Ferry
The abandoned ferry keepers house at the side of Hulme's Bridge Ferry, in Flixton, Greater Manchester. Once the home of a gentleman who ferried people across the Manchester Ship Canal in a small rowing boat for a small fee. The current owners of the canal, Peel Holdings, have closed the ferry, some say illegally, as it's a public right of way, and have let the house fall into disuse.
