This spinning mill was built in 1906 to the design of G Stott and housed 60,000 ring spindles driven by a Buckley and Taylor inverted vertical triple expansion engine of 1800 horsepower. The cylinders had Corliss valves and were 24", 39" & 63" bores x 4' 6" stroke. It ran at 75 revolutions per minute and drove by 36 ropes from the 26' diameter flywheel. The mill ceased production in 1966 but remains in good condition and in alternative commercial use.
