Arkwright House, St Mary's Street, Manchester
A Portland stone behemoth with a run of giant Corinthian columns. Behind is a steel frame. Built 1928 by Harry S. Fairhurst. Grade II listed.
In front is Parsonage Gardens, originally the site of St Mary's church, demolished in 1928.

Parsonage Gardens, Manchester
A small, tranquil oasis close to the heart of Manchester. The conservation area was designated in June 1985. Its boundaries are Blackfriars Street, Deansgate (a common boundary with the St Ann's Square conservation area), Bridge Street (a common boundary with the Deansgate/Peter Street conservation area) and St Mary's Parsonage. The River Irwell forms the western boundary of the area along the line of the administrative border of the City of Salford.

A profusion of Cherry Blossom
St Mary's Parsonage. In the 19th Century, the church of St Mary stood where the tree is now. It was eventually pulled down after the congregation dwindled, as parishioners moved to the suburbs, and the tower of the church became unsafe.
