Henry Hall's memorial stone (front view)
This memorial to Henry Hall on Barton Road seems to be the only reminder of Barton Wesleyan Methodist chapel. The chapel was built in 1796 and closed in 1982. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/BartononIrwell/BartonRoadWesleyanMethodist The chapel was demolished in 2001/2 and the site is now occupied by a block of flats, Maranatha Court. This memorial to Henry Hall on Barton Road seems to be the only reminder of Barton Wesleyan Methodist chapel. The inscription on the front of Henry Hall's memorial stone Image reads: SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF HENRY HALL, OF BARTON, WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE, FEBRUARY 5TH 1855, AGED 60 YEARS. He studied the interests of the Church of God, in connexion with the Wesleyan Chapel, Barton, for upwards of forty years. ALSO OF ELLEN, HIS WIFE. WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE, JANUARY 5TH 1851, AGED 63 YEARS. "The memory of the just is blessed."
