Eccles station
A 'binliner' train of empty domestic waste containers heads east through Eccles station. The branch to the Manchester Ship Canal is to the left of the platform. Only the most basic of 1970s bus shelters as passenger facilities.

Opened in 1830 by the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, this image was taken before the line was electrified - compare with Image] taken from the opposite platform in 2016. View west towards Patricroft and Liverpool. There used to be a further two platforms to the right.

The Cross Keys was the oldest public house in Eccles and has an interesting design due to its evolution over 400 years, comprising timber framed elements. It closed in 2013. Plans are afoot to convert it into flats. Image
